Village of Hainesville’s Annual

CIVIL WAR

ENCAMPMENT & BATTLE

Normally held the third weekend in October

Relive history as knowledgeable re-enactors, both military and civilian in period garb, recreate an American Civil War Encampment and Battle in a rural setting in Hainesville, Illinois. Event highlights include: narrated military battles between Union and Confederate forces, military and civilian bivouacs and encampments, historical presentations by such special guests as Abraham Lincoln, General Grant, and Elijah Haines (village founder) among others. There will also be period music and souvenirs and food vendors. Opportunities will exist for visitors to question participants about their knowledge of and their character’s role in that period of our history. Parking is FREE. There may be a nominal charge for admission which will be explained below as the time for the event is nearer. Additional information can be found in the panels below.
