ANOTHER GREAT RESOURCE FOR SENIORS OR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES.

The Lake County Center for Independent Living with offices in Mundelein and McHenry is a valuable resource for any questions relating to seniors or people with disabilities.  They have a program for free special phones for the hard of hearing and special devices for the visually impaired. They have a service to match disabled people with personal assistants who can help in the home with activities of daily living.

They can help answer questions about anything from Medicare Part D to “How do I complete an application for disability payments?”  They can assist you with  transportation issues, as well.

If you know of anyone in need of any of these services in Lake or McHenry counties, the number to call is (847) 949-4440.   Some brochures are at the Village Hall.  They also train people interested in becoming personal assistants.  No prior experience necessary, just a desire to help others.
